Dear Neighbors,
Entries for the Gilpin Gourmet baking contest at the Gilpin County Fair are now open. If you like to bake, you should act now to enter the contest.
Last year was the first time the contest was held since before COVID, and unfortunately not many people were aware of it. I won Best in Show for my very good lemon blueberry bread, but was sad to see so few entries. Here are some good reasons to get out your best recipe and start cooking!
You would show off your baking skills.
You could win a prize, a ribbon and bragging rights!
This year, after the entries are judged, the baked items will be sold in whole or by the piece with funds going to the Gilpin Food Pantry.
Please pass the word and challenge your friends to enter too. Just a little friendly competition makes it fun. Entries will be judged in two age groups, adults or youth (age 5 to 16), with categories of cake/cupcake, or pie/crumble.
I encourage you to be part of this community event. Search for “Fair Information Gilpin County” and select Gilpin Gourmet for more information and the entry form.
