On June 25, 2025, Matthew Lindberg, Director of Gaming Ops & Philanthropy Chair, presented a donation of $5,000 to the Gilpin County Senior Services Program for the third consecutive year.
The funds will be used to support Gilpin seniors through Rec Center admissions, Senior fitness classes, field trip costs, and extras for senior luncheons.
Lindberg wrote: “The Horseshoe Casino was honored to join the Gilpin County Seniors last week for lunch and to present them with a donation of $5,000 from the Caesars Foundation.
“The Horseshoe Casino is a proud supporter of this amazing group of residents and the program as a whole. This year marks the 3rd year of supporting the group.
“They would especially like to recognize the hard work and enduring efforts of Mary Ellen Makosky who has been the guiding light of this program for almost three decades. The Horseshoe Casino appreciates her contribution and partnership in this worthy endeavor.”
Makosky is set to retire on August 1, after a career of service to Gilpin County seniors.
