Monica LaSalle, Gilpin County. Jan Peterson knows liquor. Having been in the industry here in Gilpin County since 2005, she and her husband John Dunham first set up shop in a small building in the parking lot of Pete’s Beaver Park in the approximate middle of Gilpin County. They operated out of this location for 10 years before they bought the house next door, petitioned to have it zoned commercial and put an addition on that became their new store.

Walking through the door, a customer can easily see by the variety, the tasteful displays and the dedication to new products on the shelves that Jan goes to incredible lengths to not just meet the needs of her clientele but to take those who are willing to the next level in experience. Twice a month she holds tastings of either new products or old favorites with a new twist.
Jan will also special order anything a customer might request if she can get her hands on it. Midcounty Liquors is open 6 days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sundays 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a drive through window to serve anyone who struggles to get around or just plain can’t get out of their jammies that day (The Dude has definitely been spotted utilizing the drive through from time to time).

A dog lover at heart, Jan also provides gourmet dog treats for every dog that happens by, and believe me, your dog will never forget the royal treatment it gets coming to Midcounty Liquors. Find them on Facebook, call 303-642-7686, or just stop in to see for yourself at 17218 CO 119, right next to where the moose like to feed on the willows.
