Nederland Middle-High School (NMSHS) proudly recognizes Senior Ivy Brundege who has been named as a semifinalist for the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program.
During their junior year in high school students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Approximately 1.5 million students take the exam. Only about 1% of all test takers in the nation qualify as semifinalists and their scores are extremely high.
NMSHS Interim Principal Mark Sibley says, “Congratulations to Ivy Brundege for being a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist! Ivy is the first National Merit Semifinalist at Nederland Middle-Senior High School in many years. We are SO proud of you! A big thanks goes out to all of the Nederland Middle-Senior teachers who over the years have provided a solid educational background for Ivy as well as all of our students!”
Ms. Pries, school counselor, says, “This achievement qualifies Ivy for consideration in special college financial awards and corporate scholarships. Nederland applauds Ivy for her academic example and scholarly achievement.”
When one of the youth in the community achieves a great accomplishment of any kind it gives us reason to cheer. Ivy Brundege has done just that. Congratulations Ivy!
