Dear Editor,
The Coal Creek Canyon Park & Recreation District played host for the second summer in a row to Challenger Sports’ British Soccer Camp from June 2-6 at the CCCK-8 Turf Field.
Fifty-three mountain kids, ages 3-14, participated in the 5-day camp that included everything from soccer skill drills and “World Cup” scrimmages to Wacky Wednesday costumes and fun at-home work like finding facts about countries from around the world.
The four British coaches arrived in Coal Creek Canyon from various locales throughout England, and were hosted by canyon families for the week. A good time was had by campers and coaches alike.
Missed the fun? The Brits will be back for another week of camp in Coal Creek Canyon July 14-18. Information available at challengersports.com or by contacting Gwen Burak, camp coordinator, at gwenburak@wispertel.net or 303-642-9475.
Gwen Burak,
Coal Creek Canyon
