Nederland

There is much anticipation for the first ski race of the season and that momentum was carried out

on the Nederland High School local hill last Friday, January 12, 2018. In the morning, white out

conditions greeted school buses and visitors who came for the Colorado High School Ski League Giant

Slalom meet. That wasn’t about to stop an exuberant bunch of athletes, from six ski teams around the

state.

It certainly didn’t slow down the Ned boys, who picked up first place, one point above the

Evergreen team, 170-169. The Nederland girls came in third, behind Evergreen, who had 35 racers

signed up for the event.

At one point it was difficult to see beyond one gate, but, as one Ned racer said, “It was hard to see

where we were going, but we did it.”

The race, sponsored by Nederland High School, was run smoothly and there were no complaints

despite the weather, which cleared up significantly by the afternoon runs.
