The Boulder Valley School District’s Board of Education appointed Dr. Rob Anderson as the district’s new superintendent, in a 6-1 vote, on March 20, 2018.
Anderson began his career as a math and science teacher in Orlando, Florida, and served as a department chair, assistant principal and principal in the Orange County Public School System in Orlando. Most recently, Anderson served as the Deputy Superintendent of Academics in Fulton County in Atlanta, Georgia.
The appointment of Anderson concludes a months-long search for a replacement to Dr. Bruce Messinger, who was dismissed from the position in May 2017 as a result of an unidentified “personnel issue.” On May 5, Krish Mohip and Anderson were announced as finalists for the position. Each attended public interview sessions and fielded questions from various community stakeholders before a final decision was made.
Dr. Cynthia Stevenson, previously the superintendent of Jefferson County Public Schools, has been acting as interim superintendent. Anderson will assume office on July 1, after the school year ends.
