The U.S. Forest Service's Boulder Ranger District, in coordination with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, lifted its Stage 1 fire restrictions and recreational sport shooting ban effective today. Restrictions on dispersed campfires and sport shooting were put in place in early July. Precipitation, cooler temperatures and reduced fire activity around the state have made it possible to lift these restrictions.
Forest visitors are reminded to use caution with campfires, putting them out completely, using plenty of water, until cold enough to touch. For tips on campfire safety, visit www.smokeybear.com.
Sport shooters need to research where shooting is and isn't allowed prior to heading out to the forest and should always make sure they are shooting in a safe place and using appropriate targets. Visitwww.fs.usda.gov/goto/arp/
