BOULDER — More than 52,000 people ran, walked or rolled the 46th BOLDERBoulder 10K this weekend. Boulderites provided beer, bacon, cold water and entertainment for the jogging masses. For the first time ever, registration was cut off before race day, as runners exceeded the operational capacity, organizers said.
Official results have not yet been released. The winner of the men's citizens race, Emad Bashir-Mohammed, was disqualified after a wave-start violation.
In an Instagram post, Bashir-Mohammed said he was cleared to start in the A wave, the race's first, even though he was assigned to the AA or second wave. After crossing the finish line first with a time of 29:50, he was disqualified and the victory handed to second-place finisher Nikolas Scudder, last year's citizen winner.
According to other preliminary results, Niwot High School alum Elise Cranny won the women's citizen race with a time of 34:20. The men's pro wheelchair race winner was Joshua Cassidy with a time of 23:36, and the women's pro wheelchair win was claimed by four-time champion Kendall Gretsch, who finished in 26:57. Rebecca Mwangi won the pro women's running race, finishing in 32:33, and Patrick Kiptoo Kiprop took the pro men's title with a time of 28:35. Both are from Kenya.
