On 3/1/22, Black Hawk Police Department (BHPD) responded to the Ameristar Hotel in reference to a male subject in the lobby. The subject was said to be intoxicated and to have a handgun in his possession. The subject was located and arrested.
On 3/1/22 at 12:37 a.m., BHPD was dispatched to a female found inside the reporting party’s vehicle on level six of the KMM parking garage on 255 Main Street. The female fled the area but was located. and arrested on numerous charges including attempted motor vehicle theft, possession of narcotics, and first degree criminal trespass.
On 3/1/22 at approximately 5:30 p.m., an officer responded to the Ameristar Casino on 111 Richman Street on the report of a female exchanging a counterfeit $100 bill with another patron and then leaving. The suspect left property after exchanging the bill for five $20 bills. Upon inspection, the counterfeit bill was not counterfeit but movie prop money and it states it is “COPY” money. A report was taken and the bill was later booked into evidence for destruction.
On 3/2/22 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a BHPD officer conducted a traffic stop of a white Ford van with temporary tags that expired on 10/20/22. The driver admitted to not having insurance or registration on her vehicle and that she had a suspended driver’s license. She was given a summons and parked her vehicle in the dirt lot next to the Red Dolly Casino. She was advised not to drive the vehicle until the safety issues were addressed and the vehicle was registered.
On 3/2/22, BHPD officers responded to a motorist assist on Highway 119 (mile marker 8.5). A male party was arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and for resisting arrest.
On 3/2/22, a BHPD officer was notified of an intoxicated male on the Monarch Casino’s gaming floor. The party refused to ID himself and was deemed intoxicated by officers on the scene. During preparation for transport to Detox, the suspect fought with officers in the back seat of the patrol car and bit and spat blood on a supervisor. The suspect was later jailed on charges of aggravated assault.
On 3/3/22 at approximately 6:00 a.m., BHPD was dispatched to a disturbance involving a vehicle and two pedestrians. The investigation determined that it was a road rage incident and no charges were filed.
On 3/4/22, a BHPD officer responded to an intoxicated party at the Isle Casino at 401 Main Street. The intoxicated party was found to have a warrant and was transported to jail for attempting to avoid prosecution.
On 3/4/22, an officer responded to a report of a suspect eluding a Division of Gaming Investigator at the Ameristar Casino. The suspect was later contacted at the Lodge Casino and lied to officers about her name. The suspect was taken into custody and later was transferred to Division of Gaming officers.
On 3/5/22 at 1:30 a.m., BHPD officers responded to the Ameristar Casino on the report of a female making suicidal comments. The female was transported by ambulance on a mental health hold.
On 3/6/22 at 12:36 a.m., BHPD officers responded to the Ameristar Casino on the report of a physical disturbance. A male suspect was arrested on charges of harassment.
On 3/6/22, BHPD officers were dispatched to the 6000 block of Highway 119 on report of a disturbance on a passenger bus.The subjects were asked to depart the bus.
On 3/7/22, a BHPD officer was dispatched to a female using a fraudulent ID card at the Ameristar Casino. The suspect was of appropriate age and it is unclear why they were attempting to use the ID. The case is under investigation.
On 3/7/22 at approximately 8:53 a.m., BHPD officers responded to the Lady Luck Casino Hotel. The party inside was suspected of using narcotics and having a mental episode.
On 3/7/22 at 11:01 p.m., BHPD responded to the Isle Casino on the report of a stolen vehicle. The suspect was not on scene upon the officer’s arrival and the case is still active.
On 3/9/22 at 2:02 a.m., the BHPD responded to 900 Miners Mesa Road on suspicious activity in the construction site. Two male parties were contacted and informed officers that they were working at the site.
On 3/9/22, a BHPD officer responded to the Wild Card Casino on 120 Main Street on a stolen property report. No suspect/s were on scene upon the officer’s arrival and the case is still active.
On 3/9/22 at 5:58 a.m., an officer responded to the Monarch Casino on 488 Main Street on a report of an intoxicated party. The party was contacted and found to have a Gilpin County warrant and was jailed.
On 3/10/22, an officer responded to a report of a catalytic converter theft that occurred on 3/6/22 in the Lady Luck Casino parking garage on 401 Main Street. BHPD is currently reviewing surveillance footage to identify the suspect.
On 3/10/22, the Monarch Casino Hotel front desk received a threatening phone call from an unknown male making threats stating he was going to kill everybody if they didn’t give him his lost wallet. The male would not identify himself at the time and the case remains active.
On 3/11/22 at approximately 8:30 p.m., BHPD responded to the Ameristar Casino on the report of a guest who spat in a dealer’s eye. The guest was arrested on charges of simple assault.
On 3/12/22, the Black Hawk Fire Department, BHPD, Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office and Gilpin Ambulance Authority responded to an area near the Maryland Mountain trails on a report of a party screaming for help. A male party was located and taken to the hospital for medical evaluation. A report was taken.
On 3/13/22 at 3:08 a.m., BHPD responded to the KMM Parking Garage on 255 Main Street on the report of a hit and run. A male party was arrested and released on a summons for driving under the influence.
On 3/13/22 at approximately 1:27 p.m., an officer responded to the Ameristar Casino on a report of a pair of $800 Christian Audigier heels having been stolen from a hotel room. The suspect was located and they were issued a summons for the theft; the shoes were returned to the owner.
On 3/14/22, a BHPD detective took a report on cold criminal mischief that occurred at the Monarch Casino and Hotel. Surveillance reported they waited until they got the estimate for repair before filing the case. A suspect had entered an elevator and threw a glass bottle at one of the mirrors inside the elevator, causing approximately $6000 worth of damage. The suspect was identified and a felony case filing was completed.
On 3/14/22, an officer responded to the Isle Casino and spoke to an individual who claimed his catalytic converter was stolen from his Toyota Prius while it was parked in the Isle parking garage on level 1, between 3/1/22 and 3/2/22. A review was conducted and there are no surveillance cameras where the victim was parked. The vehicle was not on premise during the interview.
On 3/14/22 at approximately 7 p.m., an officer was conducting a walk-through at the Monarch Casino when they observed a subject attempting to steal a TITO ticket from the High Limits gaming area. The subject was identified and found to have a misdemeanor Domestic Violence warrant out of Denver Police Department. The subject was arrested.
On 3/15/22 at 2:21 a.m.,the BHPD received a phone report of a possible suicidal party in a parking garage of the Ameristar Casino. The male party was contacted and when officers attempted to arrest him for multiple felony warrants the party started to physically assault the officers. The male was arrested and transported to the Gilpin County jail.
On 3/16/22 at approximately 6:54 a.m., an officer responded to the Lodge Casino on 111 Richman Street on a report of a male party who followed a female into the female bathroom. The party was contacted and issued a summons.
On 3/16/22 at 9:50 p.m., BHPD responded to a multi-car crash at the intersection of Richman Street and Highway 119.
On 3/18/22, BHPD officers responded to the Monarch Casino to assist a Department of Gaming Agent during an investigation where drug paraphernalia was found. The suspect was identified and admitted to possession of the pipe. The suspect was issued a summons.
On 3/18/22 at 8:28 p.m., an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 200 block of Main Street but the vehicle eluded.
On 3/19/22, an officer responded to the Ameristar Casino parking garage on the report of a physical disturbance between a male and female. A male suspect was arrested for harassment and booked into Gilpin County Jail.
On 3/19/22 at approximately 7:23 p.m., a BHPD officer arrested a female at the Monarch Casino for a violation of a court order, harassment, theft, and for interfering with police.
On 3/20/22, an officer responded to the third level of the Isle Casino’s parking garage on a report of a stolen RV hitch from a pick-up truck. The theft occurred in an area not covered by surveillance cameras. No leads or suspect information was available.
On 3/21/22 at approximately 1:20 a.m., BHPD officers were conducting a walk through of the Isle Casino when they observed a suspect on site believed to have multiple felony warrants. The suspect was identified through dispatch and arrested for multiple warrants for fraud and possession of several different narcotics. .
On 3/21/22, an officer was dispatched to the Lodge Casino to a male party that had punched a slot machine causing the screen to be damaged. The suspect fled the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
On 3/21/22 at approximately 5:45 p.m., BHPD responded to the Monarch Casino on the report of a purse theft where the suspect was still being tracked by surveillance. The suspect left Monarch for the Lady Luck Casino and then the Isle Casino before she returned to the Monarch Casino, officers were able to apprehend the suspect and return all of the items that were stolen to the victim. The suspect was arrested and released with a summons.
On 3/22/22, BHPD responded to the Monarch Casino Hotel on a stolen vehicle report. One male party was later arrested and transported to Gilpin County Jail.
On 3/23/22, a BHPD detective responded to 101 Horn Street on the report of an ordinance violation. The owner of the residence was issued a summons for violating provisions of the short-term rental properties ordinance.
On 3/24/22, an officer responded to assist with a vehicle stuck in the snow on Miners Mesa Road. The officer cleared the license plate and when ran was found to belong to a reported stolen vehicle. The vehicle eluded officers and eventually came to a stop and the suspect was taken into custody on charges of resisting arrest, fraud, and criminal traffic violations..
On 3/24/22 at 9:32 p.m., BHPD officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the Isle Casino parking garage. The parties were contacted and released to sober adults.
On 3/25/22 at 9:21 p.m., on 3000 Highway 119 an officer assisted with a head-on collision and a subsequent road closure.
On 3/26/22, the BHPD responded to a report of found drugs at the Monarch Casino. A male suspect was identified and issued a summons.
On 3/27/22 at approximately 9:29 a.m., a BHPD officer responded to the Ameristar Casino on a report of a party attempting to steal gas. The vehicle eluded and traveled north on Highway 119.
On 3/27/22, the BHPD responded to a male who had punched a light fixture on the twelfth floor of the hotel lobby at the Monarch Casino. A suspect has been identified and attempts have been made to contact them.
On 3/27/22, BHPD officers responded to the Lady Luck Hotel on a found drug paraphernalia call. One male party was arrested for violating a mandatory protection order.
On 3/27/22 at 11:32 p.m., officers responded to the Lodge Casino on a report of a male who hit, punched, elbowed, and kicked a slot machine, causing damage to the screen. A suspect has been identified and officers are working to contact the male to issue them a summons for damage to property.
On 03/28/22 at approximately 10:17 a.m., an officer responded to the Lodge Casino on a report of a found purse with narcotics inside. The owner attempted to get the purse back and was later arrested and booked into the Gilpin County Jail on felony drug charges.
On 3/28/22 at approximately 5:56 p.m., officers responded to the Monarch Hotel on the report of an intoxicated male party refusing to stay in his room. Upon officers’ arrival the male party was brought to his room where an unconscious female was found. Paramedics were contacted for the female and the male party was issued a summons for violation of a protection order since he was intoxicated and not supposed to be in possession or have consumed alcohol. While officers were helping him find a sober party to pick him up, the male became combative, belligerent, and started making suicidal threats. He was placed on an M1 hold and taken to the hospital.
On 3/29/22 at approximately 10:58 p.m., BHPD officers were dispatched to the Lodge Casino on 240 Main Street on the report of three male suspects who were selling fake gold jewelry to customers. The suspects left in a white Chevrolet SUV and officers were able to make contact with them. The parties were identified and two of the males ended up being under the age of 21 and admitted to gambling in the casino. The Division of Gaming was involved. A factitious Romanian ID was seized and the rental vehicle was impounded per the rental company’s request. A report was taken.
On 03/30/22, BHPD officers responded to the Monarch Casino on a suspicious activity report. At the conclusion of the investigation one male party was transported to Gilpin County Jail on charges of fraud, simple assault, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
On 3/30/22 at 11:38 a.m., a female party was found unresponsive in a public bathroom on Gregory Street. The BHPD, Black Hawk Fire Department, Black Hawk Public Works and Gilpin County Ambulance responded to assist. The female party was provided medical care and transported to the hospital.
On 3/31/22, BHPD responded to a report of possible found drugs near the intersection of Main Street and Gregory Street. The bag of suspected drugs was collected for destruction. No suspect has been identified..
On 03/31/22 at 11:38 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a male party that was unconscious and not breathing. Medical personnel arrived on scene and transported the male to the hospital.
