Jacqueline Hart Gibson, Black Hawk. The April 22, 2020, meeting of the Black Hawk City Council was called to order at 3 p.m. and held virtually via Zoom video call in response to the Covid-19 social distancing guidelines. Roll call revealed Mayor Spellman, joining the call from the city council chambers, was in attendance. The sitting Alderman, City Manager Cole and City Attorney Hoffman were also in attendance remotely.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, it was announced there were no changes to the agenda or conflicts of interest to report. There was no one signed up for public comment and the minutes from the meeting held April 8, 2020, were carried unanimously.
In public hearings, an ordinance approving the church ditch/farmers high line augmentation station lease agreement between the city of Black Hawk and the city of Arvada carried unanimously. An ordinance approving the Water Storage Agreement between the city of Black Hawk and the city of Golden, also carried unanimously.
In action items a resolution approving the agreement for the fabrication of the Green Lake Intake Structure with Elgin Separations Solutions in a total amount not to exceed $41,100.00, carried unanimously.
City Manager Cole and City Attorney Hoffman did not have anything to report, and the meeting adjourned for an executive session following Mayor Spellman’s response to Central City Mayor Jeremy Fey’s comments about the pending lawsuit between the two cities, as reported by the Weekly Register Call on April 9, 2020. The Mayor’s response can be read in its entirety on page 5.
