Dear Editor,
I appreciated Alexander Shalom Joseph’s poem about an ever shrinking forest with more stumps than trees.
As Henry David Thoreau said, “This winter they are cutting down our woods more seriously than ever. Thank goodness they cannot cut down the clouds.”
An intact forest provides us with shade for cooler temperatures in the summer and with protection from the blasting winds of winter.
It gives wildlife and birds life sustaining food, hiding cover and shelter. It produces pure oxygen and privacy screening for us humans. And beauty to behold.
