Janette Taylor, Nederland. Once again, a cooperative effort will take place between the Nederland Food Pantry and Citywide Bank’s Nederland branch to provide an essential bit of assistance to those in need in the area. The combined brainchild of Pantry Volunteer Coordinator Laura Fisher and Citywide Bank Manager Susan Schneider, the Toilet Paper Pyramid will climb its way to the bank ceiling.
Last year it took approximately 1-1/2 months for locals to bring in enough packages of toilet paper and paper towels to create a pile to the roof. It took the Food Pantry six months to distribute that largess; now it is gone and time to build again.
Peak to Peak residents are asked to bring in packages (please don’t open the packages) of TP and paper towels into the bank during their open hours. Lobby hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Nederland Food Pantry serves hundreds of local residents with food and hygiene items 6 days per month.
