GILPIN COUNTY — The U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command and the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office are aware of an incident involving an MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter on August 25.
The U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command is calling the incident an “aviation mishap.”
The Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office reports that the helicopter went down on the east side of Thorodin Mountain. There were four personnel on board. “At this time, no injuries have been reported, and there is no reported fuel leak or fire associated with the incident.”
This is a forested area and the landing was unplanned.
According to U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command the incident occurred during a routine training operation.
The mishap is currently under active investigation, according to the U.S. Army.
