Barbara Lawlor, Boulder County. On Thursday morning, May 19, the driver of a tractor-trailer lost control of his vehicle on the Peak to Peak Highway, near the Sugarloaf intersection north of Nederland.
The truck did not have a full load, but what was left in the truck was spilled onto the road and down the embankment. The truck landed on his side and skidded to the edge of the road.
The driver was part of the CDOT paving project, replacing the road that sustained damage and wear during the road repair efforts after the 2013 Flood.
Nederland Fire Protection District EMTs pulled the injured driver from the cab of the truck. He was transported to Boulder Community Hospital. Firefighters then cleaned up the leaking fluids with the assistance of a hazmat team.
Highway traffic was delayed as state troopers and Boulder County Sheriff's Office deputies inestigated the accident. It was closed while the truck was loaded onto a tow vehicle.
