“Galactic Liquid 8” by Rob Lantz[/caption]
Art at the Center’s Annual Demo Show is returning to the Nederland Community Center on Thursday, February 29, from 4 to 7 p.m., promising an enchanting evening filled with artistry, creativity, and interactive experiences. The Winter 2024 show features a diverse array of 19 artists, many with remarkable credentials as award-winning professionals, gallery owners, managers, and teachers. The show promises a captivating showcase of mediums including photography, pottery, watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil, oil, and pastel.
Beyond the visual feast of outstanding artworks, attendees will have the unique opportunity to witness artists demonstrating their skills and can actively participate in creating their own masterpiece through the interactive demo.
Join Eric Davis, who discovered his passion for drawing at the age of 32 during the pandemic. Utilizing ink and watercolors, Davis translates his imaginative ideas into captivating scenes, people, structures, and places. Davis will be leading us in an interactive workshop where he will explore how we can exercise our creative muscles and how we can establish consistent practices and improve at a craft no matter what age we start. This workshop will be a great opportunity for interested participants to draw alongside Davis and explore ideas with pen, ink, and watercolors.
Discover the secrets behind Rob Lantz’s mesmerizing Galactic Liquid series during an informal demo at the reception. Lantz combines his expertise in capturing the fleeting beauty of water drop collisions with his night sky photos, blending science and creativity to produce awe-inspiring images. Gain insight into his unique process, as he mixes a bit of science with a lot of creativity to make the images you see in the series. It’s a fun process that might inspire you to look at the little things in life with a bit of wonder and think about a broader perspective at the same time.
Experience the transformative process of layering colors with Danielle Crouse, an adept demo artist, as she turns unidentifiable messes of lines into brilliant portraits of animals. Witness her artistic prowess as she continues to develop a large acrylic on canvas painting of a white wolf titled “Delicate Complexion.” Additionally, Crouse manages Kaleidoscope Fine Arts Gallery in Nederland, showcasing the works of 35 other Colorado-based artists. You can find her at the gallery every Thursday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Meet Andrew Morse, a seasoned potter from Gilpin County, as he takes you on a journey through his pottery-making experience. Morse, drawing inspiration from fellow potters, will demonstrate basic throwing skills on the potter’s wheel, sharing his expertise step by step. From traditional vessels like cups, bowls, plates, and vases to various glazing and firing techniques, Morse will provide insights into his craft, answering questions and demonstrating decorating methods.
As you immerse yourself in the artistic atmosphere, indulge in the usual reception fare of wine and appetizer. This is an excellent opportunity to engage with these talented artists, share conversations, and savor a creatively enriching evening. Don’t miss out on this vibrant celebration of art and creativity!
A $10 donation is requested to cover the cost of food and wine.
