Summer has finally arrived in the mountains! Along with your sunny day hikes, indulge your senses in a Nederland Day of Art, Saturday, July 15 starting at 10 a.m. and ending with an art reception and concert starting at 5 p.m.
Art at the Center (AATC) is partnering with Nederland Public Art (NPA), the Nederland Community Presbyterian Church, and the Town of Nederland to bring a diverse and full day of art to our mountain community. Wander leisurely through the many art galleries in town and through the large showing of paintings and sculpture at the Nederland Community Center where artists will also be selling their art and craftwork.
Why not do your holiday shopping in July while the weather is great? Artists will be manning their tables at the Nederland Community Center from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You will find pottery, original art, jewelry, baskets, journals, prints, note cards, and more. The Nederland Community Library will also have a table featuring a Take and Make art project for kids (which you can also pick up at the library).
After browsing and shopping the Art at the Center Art and Craft Fair at the Community Center, you can then head to town (we encourage walking!) to view the outstanding murals which Nederland is becoming known for. There will be a live demo and music outside the Train Cars Coffee Shop. The Kaleidoscope Gallery is hosting a reception to celebrate the Mural Walk at the gallery from 3 to 5 p.m.
There is even more! The Nederland Community Presbyterian Church is hosting a kids community mural painting project from 2 to 5 p.m. in the garden. They are also holding a reception featuring mountain artists from 5 to 6:30 p.m., followed by a concert beginning at 6:30 p.m.
We continue to add additional events to this fun day, so be sure to check the Nederland Visitors Center or the website for even more happenings. The art in our wonderful community overflows.
