Nederland Community Center’s Fall 2021 show is a not-to-be missed collection of artworks featuring watercolors, photography, oils, and sculpture. Come meet the artists, vote for your favorite pieces of art, listen to music, and enjoy a fun community gathering.
Among the 20 artists on display this year, we have four new artists to the Community Center:
Jane Seavers is an oil painter who communicates the magic of the landscape as well as social issues that are close to her heart. Jane has been a nurse-midwife-practitioner tending to women’s health in indigenous communities in Alaska, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and to migrant workers in California. Over the past few years, as more Central American refugees have made the perilous journey to the United States border, she travelled with the organization “Humane Borders” which delivers water to key areas of the desert to sustain refugees fleeing impossible circumstances in their homelands. She began to paint the landscape of the border, bringing awareness to the complex hardships of the border terrain as it relates to families seeking safety and refuge.
Courtney Crockett just moved to Nederland from Sitka, Alaska. As a travel nurse, Courtney chose watercolors because they are light and easy to pack on the go. Ultimately, she fell in love with the medium because, as she says, “it’s one in which you can really see daily progress, and now it’s like meditation for me to watch the water move the pigments.” She is excited to meet more of the artist community here!
Greg Marquez and Carley Celani are our other two new artists. Greg is showing his acrylics on canvas and panel, although he is also a watercolorist. He is a native of Colorado and has painted throughout the Western United States. His work has won many awards. He has received several commissions for murals, his latest being the one he is about to start for the Town of Nederland.
Carley lives in Boulder and is a member of the Boulder Art Association which has supported Art at the Center with artists showing their work here in Nederland. As you may know, Art at the Center welcomes all artists from the greater mountain area.
Artists returning to Art at the Center who haven’t shown their work for a while are photographers Kathy Banich, Tom Weeks, and Karen and Ray Willis. From these four, we will see beautiful landscapes and amazing wildlife photos.
Returning also is Brent Warren with his thought-provoking images and humor, Dori Stickles with her beautiful and detailed watercolors, Bette Ventrella with her ability to capture nature’s delicate beauty, and several other familiar and favorite artists at AATC—don’t miss their new work!
All attendees are required to wear masks while in the building, per Boulder County health ordinances. Light refreshments will be served in the community room only, where social distancing will be encouraged while masks are removed to eat.
Bring your friends and family for a fun evening of beautiful art, music, and community. We look forward to seeing you at the Nederland Community Center on October 7 from 5-7 p.m. at 750 North Highway 72.
