Are Instagram Likes going away?

Posted

Chaucee Stillman, Peak to Peak. Are Instagram Likes Going Away?

One thing that’s always consistent in social media marketing, is that it’s always changing. When you’re busy growing your business, it can be hard to keep up! Don’t worry, I’ve condensed the most important changes to know about the Facebook algorithm and upcoming Instagram features in 2019.

Facebook News Feed

A few weeks ago, Facebook announced that it will start downplaying the News Feed and start highlighting more content from groups, events, and personal friends. Have you thought about creating a private FB group for your business? Facebook groups are a great way to foster community with insider news, limited launches, and perks just for your inner FB group circle. If that’s not up your alley, then consider joining some relevant FB groups to your industry. Try to join FB groups where your ideal client would be hanging out and then post regularly and engage with other people’s posts inside that group. The key here is to engage authentically and not be spammy.

Instagram Checkout

Be on the lookout for this new feature! Instagram Checkout is a new upcoming feature that allows users to directly shop an Instagram post while staying inside the app. This could be great for businesses that sell physical and digital goods!

Are Instagram “Likes” Going Away?

You may have heard some chatter about Instagram not showing the like count on photos anymore. They’re wanting to shift the “focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many likes they get.” They’re currently trial running it in Canada and if does well then it might roll out in other countries. What do you think about Instagram removing this feature? I’m curious to see how it would impact engagement.

The Bottom Line

Even though social media platforms are ever changing, great content is great content. Putting out valuable content for your customers is the best way to get them engaged with your company.
