The month of April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month with several events happening to participate in. The ASPCA has various events scheduled throughout the month, like the one Saturday, April 8, 2018 for National Dog Fighting Awareness Day’s ‘Get Tough’ campaign. They have teamed up with Sir Patrick Stewart to raise awareness of dog fighting (https://www.aspca.org/gettough-campaign). Even though dog fighting is illegal in every state, many dogs continue to be bred, trained and forced into the ring. Through this campaign, you can sign a pledge advocating against dog fighting, share the hashtag #GetTough though social media, donate to the cause, and learn more about how you can help.
The ASPCA has also made it easy for you to create your own, customized campaign, using their step by step templates to create a campaign, get the word out and raise monies.
While this article is focusing on prevention of cruelty to animals, the ASPCA templates cover a variety of DIY fundraisingcampaigns including wedding, birthday, memorial, fundraising, special occasion and rock star pets campaigns. Visit the ASPCA website to start your campaign today:

April 26 is ASPCA Help a Horse Day, with their focus to raise awareness and help end equine cruelty and neglect. The date, April 26, was selected by the ASPCA because their founder, Henry Bergh, in 1866 intervened when a cart driver was beating his horse, resulting in the cart driver being the first person arrested for horse mistreatment on April 26, 1866. In 2017, 173 groups representing 38 states and over 20,000 community members supported Help a Horse Day. These groups encourage and are committed to horse rescue and welfare. Even though April is focused on the prevention of cruelty, every month and every day we should keep an eye out to protect our four and two footed friends, ensuring they are enjoying the best possible life free of abuse.
