To the Community,
The Gilpin County Board of County Commissioners is so appreciative of Gilpin County Public Works and Facilities Departments, the Cities of Central and Black Hawk, and all the first responders, including the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Department, OEM, Dispatch, and our Communications staff, Food Pantry staff and volunteers, Timberline Fire, Coal Creek Fire, the Alpine Rescue Team, and Gilpin Ambulance Authority, for all the dedication and hard work last week assisting the residents and visitors of Gilpin County during the storm.
These various groups removed vehicles, rescued stranded motorists, assisted with the plowing of highways 46 and 119 and our 148 miles of county-maintained roads, set up a warming center that served 38 people, answered calls for assistance, located hotel rooms for our stranded residents and visitors, and much more, all while working 24/7 in many cases Wednesday evening through Sunday, March 13th – 17th.
As recovery efforts from this storm continue, we appreciate everyone’s patience.
We’d also like to thank Gilpin County neighbors who have been helping each other dig out and share supplies.
Sincerely,
Marie Mornis
