The Jamestown Mercantile (located at 108 Main Street in Jamestown) is incredibly excited to announce open submissions for their first ever one-act “Mountain New Play Festival!” The Merc hopes to give Peak to Peak residents the chance to write and direct the one act play of their wildest dreams.
Submissions are currently open for abstracts og plays approximately 15 minutes long, give or take 5 minutes. Playwrights will be responsible for finding and directing actors, although the Merc will also do our best to round up area acting enthusiasts for this fun project! In addition, anyone interested in acting, directing, or helping backstage can email their interest!
The Mountain New Play Festival will take place over two evenings, Saturday, May 17th and Sunday May 18th, 2025, so audience members can choose to see one of two showings of the same six plays.
This is your opportunity to make your own theatrical masterpiece even if you have never even considered it! Go wild. The world is wild. Get crazy out there! We will select 6 plays from those submitted, and the final shows have two months to throw together their daring-est, dreamiest 15 minutes.
Submissions and interest should be emailed to jamestownmercantilecafe@gmail.com by Saturday, March 15th, 2025. Actors, writers, directors, techies, and audience members, mark your calendars and stay tuned!
