Alexander Shalom Joseph is a poet and writer from Gilpin County, Colorado. His novella about the end of the world, The last of the light, is forthcoming from Orison Books in Spring of 2023. His debut book of poetry about life in the mountains, Our Mother, The Mountain was published by Middle Creek Press in Spring of 2022. His debut book of short stories, American Wasteland, was published by Owl Canyon Press in August of 2021. He has an MFA in creative writing and an MA in English education.
Alexander spends a lot of time down in Boulder with his partner as well as working as a carpenter. However, he is always grateful to come back home to the 1934 cabin he renovated up at 9000 feet.
Alexander loves writing poetry each week for The Mountain-Ear because it gives him an opportunity to share his love of his hometown with the people who live here amongst the same mountains and wind that he does. It gives Alexander great pleasure to share his little moments of joy and wonder from the week with this community.
