Alan Green Memorial Foundation (AGMF) is accepting scholarship applications from high school senior graduates. To be eligible the student must be a resident in Gilpin County, but may be homeschooled, or attending a Gilpin High School or graduating from a school outside of Gilpin County.
This non-profit Gilpin County organization was founded in 1983 by family and friends of Alan Green. Alan’s parents, Ken and Lela Green, lost their son and his wife in a commercial plane crash. Over $250,300 has been distributed in student scholarships in the past years.
Applications are accepted for all types of further education including attending a trade school, certificate program, university, college, etc. A scholarship is normally $2,000 and the number of scholarships dispersed is decided by the AGMF board members. The applicant’s response to the questions on the application is considered more important than the GPA or class standing.
Leadership Award - Thanks to the AGMF family generosity, an additional Leadership Award will be given out to one senior graduate in the amount of $60,000 towards their education. A total of $15,000 per year will be awarded towards tuition and/or other school expenses.
The Leadership application will be additional and optional to complete (not instead of) the regular Senior Scholarship application. It will be judged on the applicant’s thoughts regarding great “leadership” skills plus their personal leadership activities within school or community. (GPA standing is NOT significant)
Applications are available on the website at alangreenmemorialfoundation.org. APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN MARCH 31, 2023.
