Alan Green Memorial Foundation scholarships for seniors

Posted

Dear Editor,

The Alan Green Memorial Foundation (AGMF) is accepting scholarship applications from high school seniors who are continuing their education. To be eligible the student must be a resident of Gilpin County. They may be home schooled or attending Gilpin, Nederland or other high schools outside of Gilpin County.

Alan Green Memorial Foundation is a non-profit Gilpin County organization that was founded in 1983 by family and friends of Alan Green. His parents Ken and Lela Green lost their son and his wife (Judy) in a commercial plane crash. Over $275,000 has been distributed in student scholarships in the past years.

Applications are accepted for all types of further education including attending a trade school, certificate program, university, college, etc. A scholarship is normally $2,000 or more. The applicant's response to questions on the application are considered more important than GPA or class standing.

Leadership Award

A Leadership Award is also given out to one student in the amount of $60,000 towards tuition and/or other school expenses. ($15,000 per year for 4 years.)

The Leadership scholarship is additional and optional to complete (not instead of) the regular Senior Scholarship. It will be judged on the applicant's thoughts regarding "great" leadership skills plus their personal "leadership" activities within school or community. (GPA standing is NOT significant).

Applications must be received in a pdf file no later than March 31, 2024, to the following email alangreenfdn@gmail.com.

For more information go to their website at https://alangreenmemorialfoundation.org/. If you have questions contact the Alan Green Memorial Foundation at alangreenfdn@gmail.com.
