Alan Green Memorial Foundation scholarships, deadline March 31

Posted

Dear Editor,

Alan Green Memorial Foundation (AGMF) is accepting scholarship applications from high school senior graduates. To be eligible the student must be a Gilpin County resident but may be homeschooled, attend Gilpin County School or graduate from a school outside of Gilpin County. Applications are accepted for attending trade school, university, college, educational advancement, etc.

A scholarship is normally $2,000 and the number of scholarships dispersed is decided by board members.

This non-profit local organization was founded in 1983 by family and friends of Alan Green. Alan’s parents, Ken and Lela Green lost their son Alan and his wife Judy in a commercial plane crash. Over $250,250 has been distributed in student scholarships over the past 35 years.

Thanks to the AGMF family generosity, an additional “Leadership Award” will be given out to one high school graduate in the amount of $60,000 for further education. A total of $15,000 per year will be awarded towards tuition and/or other school expenses. The Leadership Application will be additional and optional to complete (not instead of) the regular senior scholarship application. It will be judged on the applicant’s thoughts regarding great “leadership” plus their own personal leadership activities in the Gilpin County community. (GPA standing is NOT significant).

All scholarship applications are available on the website: alangreenmemorialfoundation@org.com. They must be completed digitally by email. If questions call Sharon 303-582-5562. APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN MARCH 31,2021.
