In 1906, community members and the commercial association contributed in fundraising to build a new hotel in Boulder. Upon reaching its first financial goals, the Boulder Hotel Company (BHC) was born.
The BHC began the process of scouting sites, reviewing designs, and considering a name, including Hotel Flagstaff. With a capacity of 300 guests, the Boulderado opened on January 1, 1909.
