Between 1911 and 1919, visitors could pay $2 per day at The Alps Lodge, also the Alps Boulder Canyon Inn. Many people reached the lodge via train from Denver or over the Switzerland Trail from Boulder. The Alps Lodge was known for its nine first-class cottages and trout fishing in Boulder Creek.
In 2022, the Boulder County Planning Commission voted to recommend turning the inn into a residential facility for adolescents with mild to moderate mental health struggles.
