The three-foot narrow gauge railroad was completed in 1884 and was considered an engineering marvel for its time. The Georgetown Loop Railroad was one of Colorado’s first visitor attractions. Seven trains ran daily out of Denver at the height of its popularity.
With steep canyons and mountain peaks finally accessible by train across the nation, the Georgetown Loop became one of the state’s must-see scenic experiences. Today, the loop continues to delight visitors, complete with a mine tour and local shopping.
