In true “Siv” fashion, Michael Sivcovich ended his five-year tenure at the Nederland Community Library with a gaggle of “dreads,” a chilled beer, and words of love from those whose hearts he held most dear, the youth of Nederland.
From storytimes, to after-school programs, to live music in the stacks, Mike struck a creative chord with everyone in the community.
For those who worked closely with him, the man behind the charisma was even more endearing and invaluable than what he often projected to the public. Mike was a true librarian. He loved learning and he loved the quiet, one-on-one moments with patrons when he felt a connection being made.
Mike left Nederland to be with his family in Florida. There’s no better testament to his character than that because he also loved the Peak to Peak region.
The Library now needs a lead pallbearer for Frozen Dead Librarians, Coffin Race 2022! Apply at the library! Dreads encouraged, but not required.
