An Estes romantic evening: A cozy table near The View Restaurant’s entrance welcomes a couple for a birthday celebration. PHOTO BY OMAYRA ACEVEDO[/caption]
Several weeks before I turned 40, I spent time reflecting on life, pondering almost every decision I’ve ever made. Three years later, I found myself in a similar state. This time, however, something felt different.
A week before my 43rd birthday, I made dinner reservations for two at a restaurant. I had never been there before, but its name alone, The View Restaurant, was intriguing enough. I had no idea I would be experiencing one of the most romantic ambiances, enjoying delicious food and the utmost customer service.
From the moment I walked in, I knew it would make a great Discover Colorado story. Generally, when I’m overstimulated, I tend to go into hiding, craving a breather from whatever has overwhelmed me.
This was one of the few instances I didn’t need the break. I was pulled in several magnificent directions. From the fireplace to the cozy bar and the breathtaking views from almost every window. It was a perfect blend of rustic and modern beauty.
Our server Wayne answered every question I had about the establishment. While also making sure he went above and beyond our celebration needs. For the past three years, The View Restaurant has been managed by Aki Fazilov.
Fazilov’s first American job was at The View after he immigrated to the states in 2017. He started as a dishwasher and worked in different positions throughout his employment. With the guidance of Fazilov’s entrepreneurial manager, he became the general manager and, inevitably, the owner in 2022.
“He is inspiring me very well to work hard and grow,” Fazilov shares about his former supervisor, Heinrich Stasiuk. The View is not only a place to gather for a delicious meal. Corporate events, rehearsals, birthday parties, and weddings are held at The View. When you go, you’ll see why this is a preferred location for weddings! The restaurant caters to up to 150 guests.
Between Fazilov, the Executive Chef, Jeff Turner, and the bar manager, Wayne Avilla, incredible ideas are slowly being executed to make the experience even more memorable. They are closed for the season, but with springtime around the corner, I recommend The View Restaurant for any special occasion or your next visit to Estes Park.
The View has a special place in Fazilov’s life. He loves seeing people getting married, smiling, joyous, and happy. It makes him proud to work in the hospitality industry. The restaurant is part of the Historic Crags Lodge and has been operating since 1914. Many people who’ve been coming here for decades come well into their 90s. Older patrons love to share memories of how they used to spend time together at the lodge with their parents.
This says a lot about a place. There’s plenty of history to captivate your appetite and your attention. The View Restaurant changed my birthday and my perspective. I can’t wait to visit again!
