GILPIN COUNTY - State Senator Jessie Danielson wants to be the next Colorado Secretary of State. She traveled to Gilpin County on July 24, 2025, to meet with Gilpin voters and discuss the challenges of maintaining secure and accessible voting systems.
Danielson was interviewed by both local papers and then attended the Gilpin County Democratic Party monthly organizing meeting at the library. During the meeting, Danielson got a chance to talk about her candidacy and her credentials, and answer questions from the group.
Danielson said that she is focused on election integrity and security. She thought we live in turbulent times and that requires a vigilant approach to protect these democratic traditions and institutions.
The Gilpin Democrats will host additional 2026 federal and state candidates in August at their annual fundraiser at the Gilpin County Art Gallery on August 24.
Joe Neguse, Phil Weiser, Michael Dougherty, Dylan Roberts, and Lesley Smith have all accepted invitations to attend.
In September, the Gilpin Democrats will sponsor the first Peak to Peak People’s Fair. This day-long festival on September 20 at the Community Center Barn will feature performances by four bands, speakers, beer and wine, and activities for kids and adults.
A variety of non-profit and public service organizations will have booths at the festival. There is no entry fee to attend.
The Gilpin Dems hold monthly organizational meetings on the fourth Thursday of the month at the Gilpin Library at 6:30 p.m.
They get together socially on the third Wednesday of the month at a local establishment. These establishments are rotated around the county and the next location will be on the event calendar on their website.
