Karen Gerrity, Nederland. Town staff chose Finance Support Specialist Christy Ruehman as the Employee of the Year. Christy handles HR administrative tasks, accounts payables and CIRSA claims. Here are some of the comments made by her co-workers in her nominations:
-Christy hands down deserves the nomination of Employee of the Year. Christy has handled her dual role of HR and finance with absolute grace. She has taken on these two separate roles, both of which are very deadline driven, and made the process look easy. Christy is available for questions in both capacities. She replies to emails in a timely manner and researches information if needed. She does all this with a smile on her face and never appears inconvenienced by our requests. Christy is a great asset to the Town of Nederland and an integral part of our team.
-She has taken on a ton of work, done a great job, is always cheerful and never complains.
-Christy is a dedicated employee who has a naturally pleasant demeanor and open ear. She is always willing to go the extra mile. She has taken on many challenges in her time with the Town and done so with a cheerfulness and can-do attitude. I’m proud to work at the Town Hall with her and feel grateful she has joined and stayed on Town staff.
-I’m excited to nominate Christy. She is the ideal coworker - hard working, responsive and thorough. She is pleasant and so helpful and supportive. We are all so lucky to have her on our team.
Emmett Pelletier from Public Works came in second and here is what some of his co-workers had to say about him:
-He is a pleasure to work with and a highly skilled co-worker.

-Emmett Pelletier for his willingness to help out with any task with a great attitude. He’s always timely and positive and I’m pretty sure the guy has never taken a sick day!
The Employee of the Year was announced at the staff holiday party and all the people nominated were recognized and honored. It is a pleasure to work with such a dedicated and skilled team and hear the positive comments that show how much respect there is amongst the staff.
