Joe Weaver: April 15, 1942 - January 1, 2015
Joe was born in Boulder, Colorado and graduated from Boulder High School in 1960/ He was raised in Gold Hill and helped his Dad on his trapline, getting electricity in his house and his old Dodge car. He spent four years in Vietnam and then became President of Plains Aggregate Company. He spent his later years in his cabin in Gold Hill.
Theo Ertl: November 12, 1916 -January 6, 2015
Theo was a matriarch and a Colorado pioneer descendant. She and her husband, Tell, revived Lake Eldora Ski Area where they lived from 1967 until 1975. At 85 she volunteered as a visitor to the homebound elderly. She had five children, 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Frank Irwin: February 5, 1925 - January 16, 2015
Frank was a member of the Nederland Community Presbyterian Church and after retirement, worked at the B & F Mountain Market. He was a veteran of the Navy in WWII, attended CSU, and graduated in Education from UNC. He worked with the Rocky Mountain National Parks. Frank retired from teaching in 1989, and retired from NFS in 1996. He returned to Nederland to be a member of the community.
Alexander S. Skudneski: October 1, 1931 - January 31, 2015
Alex was a Korean veteran and an Exalted ruler of the Littleton Elks Lodge. He had a degree in aerospace engineering, worked for Stern-Rogers Corp in California. He married Taffy Long and had lived in Gilpin County since 1994. He had four children and 22 grandchildren.
David Leicester: November 8, 1927 - February, 19, 2015
David was an avid horseman, winning first prize in the All-Around Cowboy Championship at Montezuma High School. He was a commercial artist and cartographer. In 1991 he came to Nederland where he hiked, skied and was a member of the Nederland Area Historical Society. He had four children.
Timothy Gorman: June 12, 1948 - February 18, 2015
Tim was a retired executive Director for the Boy Scouts of America and lived in Nederland area.
Wayde Scott Hodgson, October 11 - April 9, 2015
Wayde lived in Gilpin County and spent time in Nederland with his grandmother who owned the Old Silver Dollar Restaurant. He owned Scott Hodgson Stucco & Stone for 30 years. He was married to his wife Patti for 20 years.
Megen M. Stadele: April 2, 1957 - June 20, 2015
Megen was a wife, mother and educator. She lived in Nederland for the last 16 years of her life. She graduated from Albion College in Michigan with a double major in 1978. She received a Teaching Certificate from CU and a Master’s Degree in ESL. She worked at Denver Public Schools and then with the Boulder Valley School District.
Lars Erik Wahlin: August 8, 1929 - June 2, 2015
Lars was a longtime resident of Gilpin County, born in Sweden, he earned a PhD in Physics from the Nobel Institute in Stockholm. He was a member of the Swedish Navy. He came to the United States in 1964 and founded, owned, and operated Colutron Research Corporation. He worked on projects for NASA and then retired in 2013. He enjoyed cross-country skiing.
Anne Forrester Snow
Anne was born in Yorksire, England and died peacefully on June 19, 2015 in Nederland. She attended Catholic schools and then attended teacher’s training college and taught junior high school in England for five years. She came to the United States when she was 25 and moved to Boulder with her husband and four children. In 1979, she met Gordon, a Nederland teacher, and they married in 1980 and moved to Sugarloaf road. She taught second grade at Nederland Elementary School and retired in 1995. She was a loyal member of the Red Hat club, took watercolor lessons, and had a green thumb. She loved a good cup of tea and a good game of Scrabble.
Johnny Michael Smith: February 11, 1938 - June 17, 2015
Johnny was born in Bronte, Texas. At the age of 14 he became immersed in ministry and dedicated his life to preaching the good news of Jesus Christ. He was a pastor at the age of 17 and obtained a Master of Divinity degree from southwestern Baptist theological Seminary in 1964. He founded Calvary Chapel in Nederland in the late 70s as well as the Trinity Full Gospel Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas. He also served as pastor for Central Christian Church in Sabinal for the past 11 years.
James K. Quinlan: April 10, 1928 - July 25, 2015
Jim was born in Manhattan, Kansas, served in the US Army following World War II in Japan and earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Entomology from Kansas State University. He worked with the US Department of Agriculture for more than 30 years. He owned a cabin in Nederland and enjoyed socializing and fishing.
George Giggey: July 31, 1931 - August 4, 2015
George’s family settled in Colorado in the early 1800s on Magnolia road and lived in the homestead known as the Giggey Ranch, which is now known as the Reynolds Ranch Open Space. He always planted an apple core if he had one. He attended classes at the Magnolia Road schoolhouse and then Nederland Elementary School. He worked for the railroad when he was 15. He was a private first class in the Army and stationed in Germany. He and his wife lived near Pinecliffe, on Hwy. 72. He went to work for the Boulder County Road Department and after he retired he fixed and played with machinery.

Mary Keenan: April 30, 1930 - September 27, 2015
Mary Keenan was born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania and spent the past 20 years in Nederland. She was a kind-hearted woman who loved her small mountain town, her family, her friends and animals.
William Allen Stone, III: July 4, 1944 - October, 2015
Stone was born in Middletown, Ohio but considered Colorado his true home. He grew up in Wheat Ridge and lived the past 20 years in Nederland. He attended Colorado State University and studied music while managing many bands. He had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and loved racing, being an adventure tour guide, and a horse wrangler.
