BLACK HAWK - For over three decades I have made empty promises to myself and others about how much I am going to change in the new year. How I’m going to drink less, exercise more, walk the dog more, clean my house more, be a better mom, be a better friend, be a better neighbor, be a better boss or coworker.
Inevitably, within a few weeks, or a month, I’ve given up on my random checklist and decided to pick just a few that may be “attainable” in my busy schedule.
Most years I wait until mid January, or even February, to declare what I’m trying to do, because let’s face it, New Years Day isn’t always the best day to “start fresh” for many of us. While I don’t plan on having a hangover (or drinking much), I may not feel like tackling all of my problems first thing in the morning.
So I am simply declaring my intention, to think about what I want to change next year. And to think about how to make that attainable. And to prioritize the ideas by what is most important to me. And to wait.. until I’m ready to embrace these changes that will inevitably change my life, and that of those around me, when the time is right.
