NedFest is officially back! It’s been five years since the last NedFest in 2018, after which the festival was canceled due to a lack of space in its original venue in Barker Meadows Park. Now, the festival is being held at the Caribou Room, and it is officially titled NedFest Family Reunion.
The gates for the festival will open on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 1 p.m. Opening the festival is a tweener act by Jamie Lammers at 1:30 p.m., followed by a performance by Flash Mountain Flood at 2 p.m. Following them is a tweener act by Kylie Brock at 3:30 p.m., then a performance by Smooth Money Gesture at 4 p.m., then a tweener act that has yet to be announced at 5:30 p.m. Rocket Parade will play at 6 p.m., then a tweener act by Blackdog Jazz Trio at 7:30 p.m.
Following Blackdog is a Very Special Super Group, consisting of eight one-of-a-kind musicians from different bands and performing acts: Dave Watts and Scott Messersmith on drums and percussion, Kyle Hollingsworth on keys, Jennifer Hartswick on trumpet and vocals, Robert Mercurio on bass, Adam Smirnoff (Schmeeans) on guitar, Dominic Lalli on saxophone, and Joan Osborne on vocals. Concluding the first day of the NedFest Family Reunion is a performance by Fruition at 10 p.m.
On Sunday, August 27, gates open at 11:30 a.m., and the day opens with the local kids’ music showcase at noon. At 1 p.m., the show continues with a tweener to be announced, followed by No Go Gilbillies at 1:30 p.m., a tweener by Eric Stone at 3 p.m., a performance by Dango Rose and Friends (featuring Dave Johnston) at 3:30 p.m., a tweener by John McKay at 5 p.m., and a performance by The Hillbenders at 5:30 p.m.
This NedFest promises to be big, fun, and community-friendly, with craft breweries for those over 21, artist booths for all ages, and food trucks scattered across the venue. Kids 12 and under get into the festival for free, and a special $30 teen day pass will be available at the box office.
