“This Really is the End of the Trail, Ode to Fraser” Bronze, by Melissa Getz[/caption]
The opening reception will take place on Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 5pm -7pm at the Nederland Community Center. This year’s show will feature 22 artists, including high school and middle school students. Please join us as we celebrate the artwork of new and returning artists.
Marc McClish will be showing his Chromascapes. Marc is a technical photographer whose images are captured by combining precisely controlled movement with long-duration exposure. Marc says that he finds standing in one place witnessing the morphing intensity and saturation of light and color rejuvenates his spirit. “Each photograph holds a memory of a place or person I was there to visit.”
John Mattson is probably best known for his photography and writing. John is a passionate lover of nature and uses that passion to connect his travels and photography with adventure stories. Using oil and acrylics, he finds that painting a subject “really teaches you to look deeply into its structure and shades of color, and this helps me enjoy nature even more.”

Clara Miller, Bella Manweller, Evelyne Stanton, Nitzana Harkness, and Ivy Kolt are five talented artists from Nederland Middle and Senior High Schools. We are pleased to introduce them for the very first time at Art at the Center. Their works include digital art and acrylic paintings.
Rocky Stiers will be showing some of his ironwork that he has created using an anvil that belonged to his father.
Melissa Getz was born and raised in rural Ohio next to her grandfather’s farm. Melissa gravitated to three-dimensional art in bronze, mixed media, and found objects. Her work has a narrative quality with an underlying tone of quirky playfulness combined with a dash of dark humor.
Music will be provided by Evan Cantor from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. Nederland High School Choral will perform from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Don’t miss this fabulous showing of art by local and mountain artists. Come meet the artists, share a glass of wine with friends, and listen to some wonderful music! See you there!
