Lyn Ferguson is a Colorado photographer, practicing photography in the field and taking occasional workshops for the past 20 years. Since receiving her first Brownie camera as a child, she has loved “creating photography. But I have been most active the last 20 years with the privilege of amazing world travels and living in beautiful Colorado,” says Ferguson.
“I find that everything experienced by the senses is meant for the spirit. Therefore, the visual art of photography, at its finest, is both a spiritual experience and spiritual expression for me and a meditative practice,” confesses Ferguson.
One of the workshops Ferguson attended many years ago was in Yellowstone, sponsored by the Yellowstone Institute. She also participated in a second Yellowstone Photography tour this past May with Brad Manard of RMNPhotographer Tours.
“I have been very fortunate to observe and photograph natural wonders and wildlife in Africa, Costa Rica, Alaska, Mexico, Canada, Peru, the Galápagos Islands, Australia, and National Parks throughout the United States, including Rocky Mountain National Park. But truly, there is beauty and wonder everywhere,” shares Ferguson.
She continues, “Sitting patiently with animals is not only good for the soul but allows one to learn about their behavior and movements. Then a photographer can anticipate the action and potentially capture a wonderful action/behavior photo.”
Today, with her SONY DSCRX10M3 bridge camera - a system that bridges the gap between point-and-shoot convenience and the high-end features and functionality of a full DSLR camera, Ferguson takes full advantage of the beauty surrounding her everywhere she goes.
She hopes for her photography to reflect respect and gratitude for the gifts of nature and the ability to pay attention to nature’s large and small.
