NEDERLAND - While the Old Town neighborhood was swarmed with all kinds of young ghosts and goblins and their chaperones, on Halloween night the ghoulishly good times were being continued just across the street at the Caribou Village Shopping Center.
Many of the businesses offered candy and other treats, including the Carousel of Spookiness, which operated until 8 p.m., gave out candy, and provided activities and $2 carousel rides to those in costume.
Kids marched through the center to the sound of the kazoos they received from Brightwood Music, yelling “trick or treat” at every store door. Some were frightened off by the Sasquatch display outside of Mountain Man Outdoor Store suddenly bursting to life with a scream.
And if parents happened to be confused by eggplants found in their kids’ Halloween stashes, those were provided by the Nederland Food Pantry.
The pantry’s abundant inventory of the popular vegetable was handed out along with toys and candy at Very Nice Brewing Company, where a silent auction was also being held to raise funds for the nonprofit organization.
A special thanks to all of the businesses in the Caribou Village Shopping Center who helped to make the children of Nederland’s Halloween a special one.
