Some words for the week
a forest fire
is a lost sunset
scattered over the ground
and even the ash
of all the burning things
houses pine woods columbines
flutters like fresh snow
I worry about the world
how the seasons
are all tangled up
how the rivers trickle
how the highways always loud
but all this
even my fear of flames
is lessened
as I listen to the crackle
of my wood stove
on the still cold nights of spring
how even burning is beautiful
how even burning
is beautiful
