Some words for the week
the way the clouds sit
just below the horizon line
makes the nearest mountain
look like the last edge
of the known universe
but that’s just another illusion
of water and light
that most people
these days
have no time for
and I guess neither do I
for I must break the image
break the metaphor
ignore the view
and drive through the fog
to get to the job
listening to some report
on the newest genocide
and as I do I think of a world
where people pull off
and park their cars
and watch the way
far off rain
makes a brushstroke painting
of the sky
how great a world
where we worship weather
instead of work and war
