Peak Perspectives: Taste of the Peaks

Posted

This morning I woke up. I always think that’s a great way to start my day. I’m excited to put this paper to press and dive into many tasks I am working to complete. Some days it’s harder and I wake up with more trepidation for the day ahead. Not today. Today I feel ready.

Over the last few months we have been working hard to figure out each of our new roles. While we have a lot of staff support and an amazing amount of community support, some of us have been shifting into different roles within the organization. My role, Managing Editor, encompasses a lot of what I have been doing for over sixteen years. It also allows me to hire people to take on parts of the other roles I have fulfilled during that time.

The first thing we did was hire a full-time designer. Cynthia Davis has jumped into the role she started at before I joined the paper. She has also worked hard on our Taste of the Peaks guide, which is now on stands. Check it out online here: https://www.themtnear.com/pageview/viewer/taste-of-the-peaks-spring-2023.

This guide is a beautiful publication that has locations, websites and social media information for all of the restaurants in the region (Allenspark to Central City/ Black Hawk, with all of the communities and canyons in between). This guide is a culmination of work we have put in for the last decade. We have gathered the information of local businesses and put it all together in a publication that showcases each venue. In the future, we will print more of these. There is nothing else like it in our region, and we are proud of that.

Next week we will talk about our new advertising team. They’ll be reaching out to you soon, to find out how to help you create a marketing plan for your business.

In the meantime, The Mountain-Ear is YOUR community source for news. We welcome your thoughtful letters, stories, phone calls and emails. We cover the news YOU want to read, in the communities you love. Peak to Peak.
