Peak Perspectives: Messages of love

Posted

I always find it weird when a celebration or holiday falls right before a press run for us. Valentine’s Day is one of those days this year. Next week, February 8, we will share our Valentine stories. Because printing them on February 15 just wouldn’t make sense. In the rush of the new year, I haven’t sent out my normal request for Valentine’s messages. So…here it goes… Send your message of love to your sweetheart, child, parent, favorite aunt or grandparent, significant other or secret crush. Then we can include it in the Sweetheart edition! Valentine messages are free to be included in The Mountain-Ear. Email to info@themountainear.com. Deadline is Monday at noon.

As well, we have some deeply discounted ads to advertise your Valentine specials. Which restaurants, stores or venues have special deals for Valentine’s Day? Reach out to our Marketing Coordinator, Bethany Haas, to find out more. Her email is marketing@themountainear.com or you can call her at 720-960-2900. Deadline is Monday at noon.

With this paper, we are releasing our new publication: I hope you enjoy Body, Mind, Spirit. It’s a guide to where to find health- and wellness-related businesses. It’s a yearly publication. You can find it inside this edition, or check it out online at https://www.themtnear.com/pageview/viewer/Health-and- Wellness-2024

Okay, a little refocus away from the paper….This week I have received a lot of very heavy news about people around me. People I care deeply for. People who have impacted my life in so many different ways. So I’m gonna take a deep breath. I’m gonna to focus my weekend on catching up on a few personal projects and visiting with friends. I’m gonna reach out to a friend this week who I have been worrying about. A contact came in from someone else who is trying to help this friend, and I have to take steps to do the same. Sometimes it takes a village to give a hand up.

I also have another friend who is experiencing some very life-changing things right now. And I feel a need to step up and share some love and insight with that person as well. I have a lot of insight and am always willing to listen, share, talk, sit, walk….

All around us, people we know are going through tremendous difficulties. Emotionally. Physically. Psychologically. What if taking time out of our busy schedules made a world of difference to someone who simply has been keeping all of that inside. What if we spent just a little time every day finding a way to help someone – simply a moment to share some positive thoughts and give a bit of hope. I’m gonna figure out ways to make someone have a better day. Even simply a better moment.
