Whew.. this paper has been amazing. This week you will see more design by Joyce Robinson and a lot less by me. This is a process. While I wrapped the paper on Tuesday night, Joyce had completed over ninety percent of it before that. I simply filled in holes and inserted the last few stories. This week our work has been focused on Joyce taking on the full design of the paper, so next week I can go on vacation with my husband to celebrate our anniversary.
Many of you know I love the beach. I love to visit the beach and sit on the beach and relax. So for a week, I’m heading out. Don’t worry, I’ll be back for the March 7 edition of The Mountain-Ear. But next week, Sara, Lynn, Joyce and Cynthia (and the entire TEAM) will make the paper happen. I hope you enjoy what we’re putting together. Speaking of which, we have a few more spots for “It’s Your Turn” if you want to submit. Send your photos, poetry, original artwork, tales of life in the Peak to Peak, or photos to editor@themountainear.com.
Some of the things we are working on at The Mountain-Ear is connecting with every one of our advertisers in the next few weeks. We have some new ad sizes and options available and we’re anxious to share them with you. We upgraded into a new marketing system and we’re working hard to add everyone and start sharing all the amazing news of what we’re doing. If you’re interested in advertising options, please contact our Marketing Coordinator, Bethany Haas, at marketing@themountainear.com or 720-960-2900.
Another cool event we have going on is the next two News & Brews have been scheduled. The February event is on the day the paper hits the stands, so hopefully you’ve caught that on our social media pages. Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., we will meet at the Nederland Train Cars. Then Friday, March 8, at 4 p.m., we will meet at JKQ BBQ in Black Hawk. You can always find us on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/mtnear/ and on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/mtn.ear/
Other cool stuff we have coming up include our Second Annual Youth Art Contest, our Spring Poetry Contest, a new Essay Contest, a special section in the paper for “Kid’s Favorite Story about Mom,” and more. We’re going all out this year to expand what we do, include more reader contests and keep on sharing the awesome news you’ve been reading for almost four decades. Yeah, like that.
Our Everybody’s Listening podcast is shared online every Monday. The latest is right here: https://feeds. buzzsprout.com/1583656.rss.
