Wow. 2023 was such an incredible year for me. For this week’s column, I’m going to share some of my personal accomplishments, as well as some of our work accomplishments. Because one doesn’t happen without the other.
In February I celebrated my fifty-first birthday. I thought fifty would be the best year of my life, but it just keeps getting better. I celebrated with family and friends and spent time looking back, while also planning forward. I worked on my five-year plan.
In March, my husband and I took our son and his girlfriend on a trip to Mexico for a week. I even took a few days off and really enjoyed the island. It’s one of our favorite places to be and now some of the family has had a chance to share the magic with us.
In April and May, it was full steam ahead with end of school activities and plans for summer. Which led into great music, enjoying coffee on the porch, watching the critters run around, enjoying the flower garden, and settling in for nice weather.
Fall brought bbqs and picnics, music, soccer, school events, homecoming, gathering with friends, and wrapping up a lot of summer projects. I was able to attend my dad’s wedding and have a quick visit out to warmer weather for a few days.
Winter settled in as she always does, slowly, methodically, blanketing the land and preparing us for rest and rejuvenation. Here we are, January, and this year is looking amazing so far.
For the newspaper, many of you know I sold it on January 2, 2023. Our new Publisher is AWESOME! We had a HUGE year of learning. We have expanded our team and brought in more regular staff, instead of all contractors. We expanded our intern program. We attended the Colorado Press Convention and took home multiple awards. We brought in more full-time people to help with the management, allowing me to focus on many things I have planned for the new year. We worked. We worked hard. We made mistakes, which we continue to learn from. We had triumphs and tribulations. We had growth. We had team building. We will continue to expand on that in 2024.
We look forward to serving you in the future and here are a few reminders of things we have going on!
