Peak Perspectives

BLACK HAWK - Today, Thursday, December 12, 2024, marks day 6,617 days I’ve been working at The Mountain-Ear. During that time we have put 945 newspapers to print. This week is no exception. But I’m not here to talk about this week.

Last week, the December 5 paper was completed by the amazing team at The Mountain-Ear without my help or input. During my time at the Paper, this is the very first week that I had completely off. No part I had to participate in. This is exceptionally refreshing to me. I work hard. We, as a TEAM, work very hard.

This year I have focused more on trying to figure out a balance of work and personal life. Now we have to figure out that balance for everyone at the newspaper.

We have to figure out how everyone can take that time to refresh. How everyone can take needed time off. That is my goal for 2025. To find the balance and help everyone here find the same.

My plans for 2025 include more time with family. All of my family, who spread across the West Coast to right here in Colorado and Wyoming. More time to volunteer and do things I enjoy that are outside of the newspaper.

Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere. I’m simply looking at making goals for myself and each of us to focus in on the things that matter outside of work. Will still be here, 52 weeks a year, putting this beautiful newspaper together, as a TEAM. Each of us. Working hard for you.
