Opening Jam at Caribou Room: success

Posted

NEDERLAND – So far in 2025, the Nederland Food Pantry, Community Gardens, and Clothing Closet (Peak Abundance) has seen an increase in the need for their services, while also experiencing the early signs of drought from state and county resources.

But in spite of these uncertain times, the people of Nederland have proven once again just what being a community really means to them.

On Saturday, September 6, the very first Jammin’ the Bou Room benefit concert launched The Caribou Room’s event season and helped to raise nearly $10,000 for Peak Abundance.

Presented by Distinctly Mountains, the benefit featured three of the Peak to Peak’s favorite bands, Poorfree, River Spell, and Smooth Money Gesture, who rocked the stage late into the night for this great cause.

What started as the brainchild of realtor Dax Gleason quickly expanded into a full-on production, with special help from Deborah Brown, who organized the Feed the Art campaign and art auction. Dan Vollmer assisted with the financial aspect of the production, while Danny Shaffer and Peter Fiori graciously offered The Caribou Room as the venue.

Almost $2,500 worth of beautiful local art was sold before the date of the benefit, with at least another $800 worth sold during the concert. Over 185 tickets were sold, with all of the proceeds going to Peak Abundance.

Many anonymous donations were also made throughout the evening, and Vollmer, of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, generously offered a donation to match the ticket proceeds.

This event began as a small spark of an idea from a Nederland local who thought only of how to spread love, kindness, and compassion throughout his community.

With the aim of raising money toward that common goal, the very first Jammin’ the Bou Room can only be called an amazing success.

A very special thanks to everyone who contributed to this event, from the artists, musicians, and The Caribou Room crew, to all those who toiled behind the scenes to make it work, and to all those who came out to jam.
