NEDERLAND - Nederland Middle-Senior High School (NMSHS) held their annual December choir concert on December 11, 2024. Four groups of performers took turns singing throughout the night. These four groups were the Acappellas (the sixth-grade choir), The Punk Rock Panthers (the seventh and eighth grade choir), the Festival Choir (the high school SATB choir) and the Loquations (the high school select SATB choir).
The Festival Choir and the Loquations began the concert with “The Gift to Sing,” followed by the Acappellas’ “Noel.” The groups continued to alternate between holiday songs, with the occasional break in theme like The Punk Rock Panthers’ performance of “Carry on Wayward Son,” or The Acappellas’ performance of “Rock Island.”
The night concluded with the choirs performing “Carol of the Bells.” Director Elizabeth Evans introduced the song by stating that “Carol of the Bells” had been performed at every December choir concert since she began teaching at NMSHS, and this would be the last performance before she retires at the end of this school year.
