Kind Hearted Strangers performed some of their first gigs at Very Nice Brewing Company in Nederland. The group initially started as an acoustic trio, with two acoustic guitars and a cajon. Since those first gigs, the band has evolved into a rock group, with two electric guitars, drums, bass, and a much bigger sound, according to band member Marc Townes.

Ten days after drummer Eggy Gorman joined the group, Kind Hearted Strangers went on a month-long tour in the southeast and mid-Atlantic areas of the United States. Shortly after, the band planned to make their second and latest record in a warehouse space in Richmond, Virginia. The group scheduled five days to write and record everything on the record, where they would jam for twenty minutes to an hour every day creating new original musical ideas to experiment with. In the end, they spent a sixth day re-learning everything to perform some of the new songs at a show and accompanying art exhibition on the seventh day.

The band is essentially on the road all year. Some of the members live in Colorado and some of them live in Nashville. Townes says that the group’s commitment to the craft of music, which is strong enough to keep them on the road all year, is something that keeps the band together. He says that Nederland has given them so much and that the band is incredibly excited to still be a part of the community.
