Hunter Stone has always been enamored with the Wild West. As he mentions in his personal bio, something was alluring to him about a landscape that was “new and old all at the same time.” He would often stay up watching John Wayne movies with his grandfather, adding to his love of the mystique of the West. He currently classifies a lot of the music that he writes as drawing from a blend of roots, Americana, and rock.
He has an album out now on all streaming services, Portraits of the New/Old West, Volume One. This album is “a collection of vignettes inspired by the West, past and present,” along with the album’s sequel, which is coming out this fall. He has previously been involved with his solo material and with the band Rolling Harvest throughout the Peak to Peak area.
There’s something about the writing process that keeps calling back to him. On his Facebook, he has posted that it is incredibly important to trust the flow of the process and not let the editor get in the way of what it is you have to say. He has been working on some songs for years and keeps coming back to them to work on his writing muscles, and it seems he will never truly get tired of the writing process.
See Hunter Stone and his band perform at the Jamestown Mercantile, 108 Main Street in Jamestown, on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 7 p.m.
